Description: Located at the former site of the Hollybrook Hotel, this residential development involves the change of use and conversion of an unused bar and restaurant premises.
The design involves a discreet modification of existing facades in the building to connect the internal spaces with courtyards, open space and natural light. The sun path is carefully considered as part of the process to maximise daylight.
Utilitarian external service spaces that formerly served the bar and restaurant are reinvented as private courtyards and terraces. The existing bar and restaurant uses have not been viable in the last decade and the re-purposing of the existing structure is a sustainable and energy efficient way to create new housing units without wasteful demolition or the need to construct a new building.
